Frank DePasquale was recently interviewed by the Boston Herald.  We include, here, a copy of the interview.

“The list of restaurants owned by Frank DePasquale is enough to make your mouth water: Umbria Prime, Bricco, Mare, Trattoria Il Panino and, for dessert, Gigi Gelateria.

The president of DePasquale Ventures also owns Splash lounge in the Leather District, the Ocean Club at Marina Bay and a pasta shop in the North End. He publishes Scene Boston magazine and, no surprise, is chairman of the North End Chamber of Commerce.

DePasquale, who recently moved back to the neighborhood after tiring of life in a condo at the InterContinental Hotel, came to the United States in 1955 from the Campania region of Italy, but he loves going back the old country — mixing business and pleasure.

“I love traveling to Italy,” said DePasquale, during an interview at Bricco in the North End. “All my concepts are around the Italian traditions, culture and mentality. I travel back and forth to Italy at least two to three times a year.”

So, where does he go for Italy’s finest food and sites?  “Positano is one of my favorite places,” DePasquale said. “It’s probably one of the most picturesque and most culinarily oriented areas of Italy. There are many Michelin restaurants coming out of that area and I love seeing what they’re doing.””
