Presentation
for PARCEL 13
The
Massachusetts Turnpike Authority
(MTA) is hosting a meeting
about plans for PARCEL 13
(between Cross Street and
the Surface Road) - The
Armenian
Heritage Park
- to be held on WEDNESDAY,
MAY 9th, at 6:30 p.m.
at the Nazzaro Center,
30 North Bennet Street.
Proponents of the Park will
make a presentation on their
proposal for a public park
on this parcel and answer
questions from the North
End/Waterfront community.
While
the North End/Waterfront
Residents' Association (NEWRA)
voted overwhelmingly to
support the project at its
March 12th meeting, opposition
has resurfaced
from those who feel that
no memorials should be constructed
on the Greenway for five
years. The Mayor's Central
Artery Completiton Task
Force and the Rose Kennedy
Greenway Conservancy have
both been outspoken in their
opposition to the project
and their criticism
of the Massachusetts Turnpike
Authority (MTA), which has
the final decision and oversight
responsibility for the project.
Members
of the Mayor's Task Force
will be in attendance at
this Wednesday's Nazzaro
Center meeting to voice
their opinions.
