Virtual Table for September 15: Fiore & Mare Oyster Bar

 

Welcome to our neighborhood’s Virtual Table.  Every once in a while we present you with a menu comprised of special dishes from some of the best restaurants in Boston … all here in the North End. As you read below, you’ll see that we present you with the name of the dish, that you can “click” on the restaurant logo to visit their own website and menus and that each restaurant has graciously shared  the recipe.

Now, here is this Edition’s Menu.

Zuppetta di Cozze from Fiore

 

 

Zuppetta di Cozze

Mussels sauteed in olive oil with fresh garlic ad a Cherry Tomato Sauce

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 clove chopped garlic
2 dozen fresh mussels
1 cup cherry tomatoes
splash of white wine, 3 leaves basil, salt and pepper to taste

Saute olive oil and garlic in frying pan for one minute.  Then add mussels and cook for another 2 minutes. Then add cherry tomatoes, white wine and basil.  Continue to saute ingredients for another 4 minutes.  Serve in a bowl.  Wow!!

 

Risotto Di Mare from Mare Oyster Bar

 

 

 

 

Risotto Di Mare (serves 4)

8 cups fish stock or clam juice
1 cup diced onion
2 cups risotto rice
8 oz canned cherry tomatores (San Marzano preferred)
1/2 lb cleaned calamari
1/2 lb diced scallops
1/2 lb shrimp – cleaned
2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, squeeze of lemon

 

 

For Dessert … try one of the North End’s famous (and infamous) bakeries or caffes.
