NorthEndBoston.com was founded in January 1999 in Boston’s historic North End.
We serve as an information resource for visitors, residents, businesses and all those who wish to know more about our neighborhood – its past and its present.
Boston’s North End is, by its very nature, an organic, living, vibrant, and ever-changing urban neighborhood. Encompassing the heart of the Freedom Trail attractions, it is a major tourist destination point for history buffs.
“Boston’s Little Italy” as it is sometimes called, the North End is known as a mecca for its many Italian restaurants and cafes. Old-time shops have been complemented by hot, new boutiques along and service providers in the fitness, real estate and health industries.
Our staff reside in the North End of Boston and in the words of the late founder of NorthEndBoston.com, Guild Nichols:
“NorthEndBoston.com is the best place to find everything on the web about everything in the North End. Whether you’re looking for one of our 100+ restaurants, a location to park, a place to shop in our unique stores and spanking new boutiques, neighborhood news or over three centuries of history – you will find NorthEndBoston.com is the place to go.”
The North End is many things to many people. It always will be. And as author David McCord has written in About Boston (1948), ‘The North End! A queer composite, this slope of land, with its dockside teeth biting into the harbor and the very hide of it bristling with dark red clay and chimney pots. This is the real Boston; this is America, old and new. And it is rather comforting to remember that here in the house at the end of Sheafe Street once lived the author of some verses beginning “My country, ‘tis of thee.'”
